Connect to asu-secure Network on OSX

  1. Click the WiFi icon on the menu bar to display available wireless networks. Select asu-secure-setup.

  2. Open a Browser and go to http://wifi.appstate.edu.
     
  3. You should see a screen with your Operating System already chosen. If the wrong Operating System is chosen then please use the drop-down menu "Select your device:" to correct the selection.

  4. Click on JoinNow.
     
  5. You will be prompted to download an application called "SecureW2 JoinNow".
     
  6. Click Save File.
     
  7. Open the DMG file that was downloaded.
     
  8. Double Click on the SecureW2 JoinNow application to install it.

  9. On the warning prompt about the "SecureW2 JoinNow," click on Open.

  10. On the Authentication prompt: Enter your appstate credentials.

  11. Click Next.
     
  12. When prompted, enter your Apple computer's Username and Password.

  13. On the "change access permissions" prompt, click on Allow.

  14. Once the Wireless Configuration Portal is complete, click on Done.

  15. The WiFi will automatically switch over to the asu-secure network and the icon will display that you are connected. You should now be able to browse the internet on asu-secure.
  1. Click the Wireless icon in the right hand corner to display available wireless networks. Select asu-secure-setup.
  2. Open a Browser and go to http://wifi.appstate.edu
  3. Click "Proceed".
  4. You should see a screen with your Operating System already chosen. If not then please use the drop-down menu by "Select your device:".screen with your Operating System already chosen. If not then please use the drop-down menu by "Select your device:".
  5. Click on JoinNow.
  6. You will be prompted to download an application called "SecureW2 JoinNow".
  7. Click Save File, then open the EXE file that was downloaded.
  8. Double Click on the SecureW2 JoinNow application to install it.
  9. On the warning prompt about the "SecureW2 JoinNow", click on Open.
  10. Click Yes on the UAC Prompt.
  11. On the Authentication prompt: Enter your Appalachian userid and password.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Once the Wireless Configuration Portal is complete. Click on Done.
  14. The Wireless icon should display a connection to the asu-secure network.

Connect to asu-secure Network on iOS

  1. On your device's home screen, select the Settings app.

  2. Select WiFi
     
  3. Make sure the WiFi button is set to "ON". Select asu-secure-setup from the list of available wireless networks.

  4. Tap the Home button to go back to the home screen and open the Safari app. Go to http://wifi.appstate.edu.
     
  5. Tap the "Continue setup" button.

  6. You should see a screen with your Operating System already chosen. If the wrong Operating System is chosen then please use the drop-down menu "Select your device:" to correct the selection.

  7. Click "JoinNow".
     
  8. Select Install on the Profile.

  9. If you are prompted please enter your passcode for your device.
     
  10. Select Install on the Root Certificate Installation Warning.

  11. After the wireless profile is installed. Select Done.

  12. Note: The Wireless Certificate will be stored in Settings, under General —-> Profile. 
     
  13. After the certificate is installed, continue with the instructions on the webpage to join the asu-secure network and you will be connected.

A pin or password is required to be setup on your device in order to connect to the asu-secure network. If you forget this access code, you will be unable to access your device, and ITS Support can not help you recover this code.

  1. Go to Settings.
     
  2. Choose Wi-Fi.

  3. Connect the device to asu-secure-setup

  4. Select Connect (if prompted).
     
  5. Open the Mobile Internet Browser and go to http://wifi.appstate.edu

  6. You should see a screen with your Operating System already chosen. If not then please use the drop-down menu by "Select your device:".

  7. Select download.
     
  8. When prompted please follow the instructions to setup a required pin or password on your device.
     
  9. On the Google Play store SecureW2 JoinNow application screen, Select Install.

  10. Select Accept.
     
  11. After the application installs, Select Open.
     
  12. On the Authentication prompt: Enter your Appalachian Userid and password.

  13. Select Continue.
     
  14. Once the Wireless Configuration Portal is complete. Select Done.
     
  15. You are now connected to asu-secure.
  1. Click on the wifi icon in bottom corner and choose "asu-secure-setup."

  2. Open the Chrome browser and go to wifi.appstate.edu.

  3. You should see this wifi configuration page. Click on the button that says "Click to configure a connection to asu-secure wifi."

  4. On the next page click on the button that says "Click here to configure."

  5. Click on the install button to install the JoinNow MultiOS extension.

  6. When you see this pop-up click the "Add Extension" button.

  7. Once the extension is installed, you will need to type in your ASU username and password to be authenticated.

  8. Once you enter your credentials and submit you will see a loading screen, it may take sometime for the certificate to be created.

  9. Once the certificate has been created the screen will change to instructions telling you to switch to the newly opened tab.

  10. This will take you to the certificate install screen, click on the "Choose File" button.

  11. Choose the SecureW2.onc file from your downloads.

  12. You will be returned to the installer page, It will not indicate that anything has chaged, but the certificate should now be installed.

  13. Click on the wifi icon in the bottom right again and choose "asu-secure" from the list.

  14. You should now be connected to the "asu-secure" network. You can now close any browsers that have been opened during the process.
