Connect to asu-secure Network on OSX
- Click the WiFi icon on the menu bar to display available wireless networks. Select "asu-visitor".
- Open a browser and go to http://wifi.appstate.edu.
- Select "Click here to configure".
- You should see a screen with your operating system already chosen. If the wrong operating system is chosen, use the drop-down menu "Select your device:" to correct the selection.
- Click on "JoinNow".
- You will be prompted to download an application called "WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper.dmg".
- Open the DMG file that was downloaded.
- Double click on the SecureW2 JoinNow application to install it.
- A warning dialog box will pop up asking if you are sure you want to open "WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper", and click on "Open".
- On the Shibboleth Authentication screen, enter your App State credentials.
- Click "Sign In".
- When prompted, enter your Apple computer's username and password.
- On the "change access permissions" prompt, click on "Allow".
- Once the Wireless Configuration Portal is complete, click on "Done".
- The WiFi will automatically switch over to the asu-secure network and the icon will display that you are connected. You will now be able to browse the internet on asu-secure.
- Click the wireless icon in the right-hand corner of the taskbar to display available wireless networks and select "asu-visitor".
- Open a browser and go to https://wifi.appstate.edu.
- Click "Proceed".
- You should see a screen with your operating system already chosen. If the wrong operating system is selected, use the drop-down menu next to "Select your device:" to correct the selection.
- Click on "JoinNow".
- You will be prompted to download an application called "WiFi_Appalachian_State_Wrapper".
- Once the file has been downloaded, click on “WiFi_Appalachian_State_Wrapper” from your downloads menu.
- On the warning prompt that says: “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device”, click “Yes”.
- Click “Next” in the App State W2 pop-up menu:
- On the Shibboleth Authentication screen, enter your App State credentials:
- Click “Sign in”.
- Once the wireless configuration portal is complete. Click on “Done”. The Wireless icon on your Windows taskbar will now display a connection to the asu-secure network.
Connect to asu-secure Network on iOS
- On your device's home screen, select the "Settings" application.
- Select "WiFi".
- Make sure the WiFi button is set to "ON" (Green is on). Select "asu-visitor" from the list of available wireless networks.
- Tap the Home button to go back to the home screen and open the Safari browser. Go to http://wifi.appstate.edu.
- Tap the "Click here to configure" button.
- You should see a screen with your operating system already chosen. If the wrong operating system is selected, use the drop-down menu next to "Select your device:" to correct the selection. Click the Sign In button, then authenticate on the Shibboleth Authentication screen.
- Click "JoinNow".
- Select Allow on the pop-up.
- If you are prompted please enter your passcode for your device. You will then receive a notification that the profile has been downloaded.
- Go back to your Settings app on your iPhone.
- You will see "Profile Downloaded".
- Select "Profile Downloaded" and then select "Install".
- Select Install on the Root Certificate Installation Warning.
- After the wireless profile is installed. Select Done.
- Note: The Wireless Certificate will be stored in Settings, under General —-> Profile.
- After the certificate is installed, navigate back to "Settings" and select "Wi-Fi". Select "asu-secure" as your wi-fi network. You will receive a notification asking you to trust the certificate.
- Once you select "Trust" in the top right you will now be connected to asu-secure.
- On your Android device, go to “Settings”.
- Choose “Connections”.
- Connect the device to "asu-visitor".
- Select Connect (if prompted).
- Open the mobile internet browser and go to http://wifi.appstate.edu
- You should see a screen with your operating system already chosen. If the wrong operating system is selected, use the drop-down menu next to "Select your device:" to correct the selection.
- Select “download”.
- On the Google Play store SecureW2 JoinNow application screen, select “Install”.
- Select “Accept”.
- After the application installs, select “Open”.
- On the Shibboleth Authentication screen, enter your App State credentials. (Note: If you are a new student, you will need to change your password after registering for classes as class registration is the secure wireless eligibility trigger.)
12. Select “Sign in”.14. Once the wireless configuration portal is complete. Select “Done”.
15. You are now connected to asu-secure on your Android device.
- Click on the wifi icon in bottom corner and choose "asu-visitor."
- Open the Chrome browser and go to wifi.appstate.edu.
- You should see this wifi configuration page. Click on the button that says "Click to configure a connection to asu-secure wifi."
- On the next page click on the button that says "Click here to configure."
- Click on the install button to install the JoinNow MultiOS extension.
- When you see this pop-up click "Add to Chrome" then "Add extension".
- Once the extension is installed, a confirmation will appear on the origional tab and you can now sign in on the Shibboleth Authentication screen with your ASU credentials.
- Once you enter your credentials and submit you will see a loading screen, it may take sometime for the certificate to be created.
- Once the certificate has been created a notification will pop up and ask you to look for a new tab in Chrome labeled chrome://net-internals/. Click on this new tab in Chrome.
- This will take you to the certificate install screen, click on the "Choose File" button and click Downloads to open the downloads folder.
- Choose the SecureW2.onc file from your downloads.
- You will be returned to the installer page, It will not indicate that anything has chaged, but the certificate should now be installed.
- Click on the wifi icon in the bottom right again and choose "asu-secure" from the list.
- You should now be connected to the "asu-secure" network. You can now close any browsers that have been opened during the process.
